Alvarez Award
Judge Alvarez
|
In 2023, Making Every Day Count created an award to be given at our annual fall luncheon each year to honor the late Judge Ronald Alvarez. Judge Alvarez was the first presiding judge of Delinquency Drug Court and was the primary advocate for its establishment in Palm Beach County. In addition, Making Every Day Count had the unique benefit of learning from him as a member of our Board of Directors after he retired. His careful counsel and educated direction to MEDC remains the cornerstone as we work to help the participants in the Problem-Solving Courts here in Palm Beach County.
This year we would like the community to be involved in choosing the winner of this award. We are asking that agencies, businesses, non-profits and individuals nominate people who make a difference in others’ lives by simply being who they are. The Alvarez Award recognizes the qualities of compassion, fairness, generosity and kindness while fulfilling their everyday duties. Any member of the community is eligible; a CEO, a teacher, a volunteer, a member of the courts’ teams, a doorman, etc. It’s the qualities that are important. To nominate someone, please email a short description of the reasons that you believe this person should be honored. We will need their name and any other information pertinent to the nomination. We will also need your (person nominating) contact information. Please email: Martha Ahr, [email protected]. You are welcome to call 561-389-0481 if you have any questions. The luncheon is on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens. The deadline for submission is Friday, September 28, 2024. Thank you for participating. We are looking forward to honoring some unsung heroes working in our wonderful community. |
